No Place For Hate
Our school was officially designated as a No Place for Hate® School on May 13, 2014. The No Place For Hate® Program is a campaign for Peace and Anti-Violence. It is one of the programs that is offered through the Anti-Defamation League: the Florida Region. In order to be a No Place for Hate® school the school must complete 3 school wide initiatives that are directly related to Peace, Anti-Bullying, and Tolerance. The school wide initiatives that we completed were the Diversity Logo Poster Contest, I am Unique Posters, Learn about My Culture Presentations, and Peace Makers vs. Peace Breakers class posters. To learn more about No Place for Hate® and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), go to: www.adl.org.
Parents can gain valuable insight about our Broward County Schools Anti-Bullying Policy 5.9 by going on-line and viewing the Parent Anti-Bullying Training Module. The module focuses on how to recognize bullying, being aware of the warning signs, how to report alleged bullying, the effects of bullying, etc. The parent-training module is located at: www.brainshark.com/browardschools/parentantibullying. We encourage all of our parents to take a few minutes to view the training module and converse with your children about our Anti-Bullying Policy. Thank you.
On June 9, 2014, the School Board of Broward County approved Resolution 14-88, which would put a $800 Million General Obligation Bond on the November 4th ballot. The proceeds of this bond will be utilized for capital improvements and to purchase technology for teachers and students. SMART stands for: Safety, Music and Art, Athletics, Renovation, and Technology.
